March 19th - Poole and Swanage (#21)

I joined Mike Holgate from Poole Bay Kayaks and his friends Graham, Stephen and Jackie for a paddle from Poole to Swanage by way of Old Harry Rocks. The day was a magnificent one and the water was calm as we made our way along the coastline of spectacular chalk cliffs. We managed to paddle through some neat arches and into some fun tidal races. We landed in Swanage and managed to make our way to a fish and chip shop where we obtained lunch! The paddle back was also assisted by some current and we had a couple of fun waves to surf.

March 12 - Cadboro Point (#20)

I paddled out to Cadboro Point this morning in the hopes of catching some nice waves in Baynes. When I got out there I met Nick, Alex, Peter and a couple of others who had the same idea. The waves were big but quite confused and I had a hard time catching waves - even when I switched to a euro blade... I was also pretty tired by the time I stopped... I need to work on sprints!

March 8 - Discovery (#19)

I had no classes this aft so decided to head out and join Gordin and Dan who were out on Chatham (having set out from Maynard Cove). Once we met up we set out to go around Discovery. The current was flooding and the SE wind turned to a strong SW wind in time to make the jaunt along the south side of Discovery a slog! There were a few fun waves to play in by Virtue Rock and Heritage Point. The current gave us quite a boost around Heritage point.
