August 7th - D'Arcy Island (#56)

Pete and I went for a paddle over to D'Arcy Island on our way back from dropping off some school boats at Blackline. Conditions were great with just enough wave action to make things interesting but not hard work! We set a good pace and were able to do the round trip in 3 hours including a nice lunch spot on the deserted beach. It was good to paddle again with Pete as we have not done so for a while.

October 8th - D'Arcy (#90)

I led a SISKA energizer paddle today from Island View Beach to D'Arcy Island and back. We were a group of 19 and conditions were excellent - no wind and a bit of current. The early morning fog had burnt off before we left the beach. All in all a very nice paddle! In the evening I helped host a pool session and did a bit of rolling.

September 3rd - James Island (#81)

Monica and I joined 22 others on a SISKA paddle around James Island, led by Michael E. Though there was a bit of a headwind to begin with, this diminished as did the current and we had a great day. It was nice to meet many fellow paddlers again. It was nice that Paul made it over from Mission and Larry from Shawnigan Lake.

September 19th - James Island (#91)

I joined David, David, Don, John and Dennis for a VSKN paddle around James Island. The forecast was for rain and it poured as we left Cadboro Bay, but by the time we got to Island View Beach, the rain had stopped and the fog was lifting and the wind was light! We had a nice paddle around the island and lunched on a beach (below high tide of course!) on the east side of James. There was a bit more wind and wave action on the south of James as we made our way back to the launch. We had sunshine by lunchtime - another surprisingly nice day on the water!

Oct 29th - D'Arcy (#71)

I headed out early (9AM) frim Island View beach to head out to D’Arcy. Conditions were nice and I made it to the campsite in an hour. Dennis, Tony, Heike and Paolo were camped there and were loading their boats. Craig had left earlier. Heike, Dennis, Tony and I set off back to IVB via James Island. Shortly after we left it got cold and the wind picked up – must have been nearly 20 knots as it slowed me down to about 2 knots! Kelp reef was up to 24 knots.

October 22 - D'Arcy island (#70)

Pete, George and I went for a Sunday afternoon paddle to D’Arcy Island from Island view Beach. beautiful sunny calm day!
