April 4th - Loon Bay (#35)

Jenny and I SUPed over to Loon Bay via the yacht club for a short afternoon paddle. Great conditions and a nice little paddle! The tide was way out as you can see from the starting position!

May 22nd - Bewell Harbour (#39)

I took the SUP ATX paddleboard for a short trip in Bedwell Harbour while we were staying at Ainslie Point Cottage with Jack and Mary. I went from the dock out to the beach by the parks campsite. The wind was quite strong in my face on the way out, making it slow progress, but by the time I was on my way back the wind had dropped so I did not get the advantage of a push! No batteries in the GPS as I accidentally left it on, so the track is created manually...

August 30th - Jemmy Jones (#77)

I managed to get out for a second "paddle" today. This time I took the Oarboard SUP for a row out to Jemmy Jones. Given the sore muscles and blisters, this definitely uses different systems than kayaking! An interesting side effect of going backwards is that you see how many seals follow you! Downside is that you aren't looking where you are going! :)

July 9th - Westover Lake (AB) (#66)

While staying with Jack and Mary, we went for a short paddle on nearby Westover Lake. There was a loon calling as well as lots of little "clouds" of small fish dotted around the shallow lake. I also had fun watching leeches move around!

July 8th - New Denver (#65)

I went for a short morning SUP paddle on our last morning in New Denver (BTW, we loved our visit to new Denver, especially hiking to Idaho Peak and the Sandon ghost town). Again nice clam conditions with magnificent views of the Valhallas.

July 7 - Oyama (#s 62, 63, 64)

While in Oyama on our way to Alberta, I managed to squeeze in three paddles. A solo morning paddle and an afternoon paddle with Monica and a solo SUP outing. Conditions were nice and sunny and calm.

April 4th - Flower Islet (#27)

I took Dan out for a try of SUPing and we went for a nice meander around the bay. The winds of earlier in the day had dissipated and we had a nice paddle. I can definitely notice different muscle groups in action. I was interested to see that the fasted paddling was when I was kneeling... not sure why. I saw max in his Laser by RVYC and ran into Riley and Kathryn out by Flower Islet.

May 14 - Cadboro Bay (#32)

Just before 8 PM, I looked out and saw the bay was glassy calm, so I decided to head out for a quick paddle in the bay. I grabbed the ATX board but decided to try paddling it with a Greenland paddle! I was very happy with how the GP moved me along. Fast (6 kph average) and it was much easier to go straight! I had planned to go through RVYC, but the way was blocked while they are working on their dock refurbishing. A nice quick half hour paddle on the spur of the moment

May 1st - Staines Islet (28)

After dinner I looked down the road and saw a flat clam sunny bay beckon, so I decided to go for a paddle on my SUP board. It was a beautiful evening and the Pacific Grace was anchored in the middle of the bay.
