September 15 - Flower Island (#90)

I went for a tour of the bay on the Starboard SUP. Very nice sunny conditions and clear water. There are 6 beached boats on the shore at this point. The one at the end of Killarney which came ashore right after they removed the other two on the Saanich side is still there as are 5 on the Oak Bay side...

May 2nd - Cadboro Bay (#35)

Jenny and I went for a nice after dinner SUP paddle around the bay. It was sunny and warm and calm! Lots of yellow-green algae in the water - it is that time of the year again!

August 27th - Caddy Bay (#75)

I took the Starboard SUP and Monica took the ATX with the Oarboard for an afternoon spin around the bay. Conditions were nice and I had a quick chat with Dean of "Caddybuoy" (used to have "panga") that is moored on the north side of the bay. He has a very nice 22 ft Lifetimer!

May 7 - RVYC (#39)

Jenny and I went out for a quick before work SUP paddle out to to the yacht club and back. The new dock layout makes it tricky to get around at anything but the highest tides!

April 4th - Flower Islet (#27)

I took Dan out for a try of SUPing and we went for a nice meander around the bay. The winds of earlier in the day had dissipated and we had a nice paddle. I can definitely notice different muscle groups in action. I was interested to see that the fasted paddling was when I was kneeling... not sure why. I saw max in his Laser by RVYC and ran into Riley and Kathryn out by Flower Islet.

October 26th - Jemmy Jones Island (#89)

After the sun came out, I went for an afternoon row with the Oarboard and the Starboard touring SUP. It was a gorgeous afternoon on flat water. I saw a few kayakers out as well as a few SUPers. I also ran into Dylan who was trying to make his 49er move in minimal wind!

October 2nd- Caddy Bay (#85)

Jenny and I went for a late afternoon paddle on the boards out to the yacht club and then over and around Flower Island and back. We went at a very leisurely pace and enjoyed a peaceful paddle with seals and birds all around.  No track image as I did not bring the GPS!

August 10th - Cadboro Bay (#65)

I went for a short afternoon paddle along the west shore of Cadboro Bay. It was hot even on the water! I checked Simon's crab tap but there was nothing there!

August 9th - Flower Islet (#63)

After a good morning bike ride to and around Mt Doug, Monica and I decided to go out into the bay on the boards. Monica used the oarboard rig on the SUPATX and I used the Sarboard Touring. It was Monica's first time on the Oarboard rig and she seemed to enjoy it. I was testing out a Werner SUP paddle which was quite nice.

August 6th - Cadboro Bay #2 - (#61)

I went for a second trip around the bay, this time with the oarboard rig on the starboard 12ft 6in touring SUP board. The oarboard rig is significantly faster and easier to control directionally than just standing and I found myself working up quite a sweat! I stopped for a nice chat with Tim by Staines Island. Looking at the second image below, you can see that the evening track is mostly blue and the morning track mostly green...

August 6 - Cadboro Bay (#60)

I took my new Starboard touring SUP out for a spin in the bay. It paddles very nicely. I went out via the yacht club (now one can get through again) and passed by my mooring and the anchored yacht Surt.
I am looking forward to plenty of short trips out in the bay on this board as well as using it with the oarboard. It definitely goes faster with the wind at your back!

June 19th - Cadboro Bay (#50)

I took Zyoji's starboard 12 ft 6 in touring SUP out for a morning row and an evening paddle and was very impressed. It is very stable and tracks nicely. With the oarboard rig, it rows very nicely and I was able to maintain a nice pace. I think this is the best board I have used with the oardboard. In the evening I went for a nice paddle and it also paddles well, tracking much better than the other boards I have tried.
You can definitely see a dramatic difference in the pace I maintain using the oarboard rig vs the paddle!

May 15 - Inner Harbour (#33)

Eight colleagues and I went down to Ocean River Sports for an afternoon of stand up paddle instruction. Gary and Mark were our instructors and did a great job. I got to try a touring style board which I really liked. Stability and tracking were good. We had a good time and learned some useful maneuvering strokes. An afternoon well spent!
