A journal of my sea kayak trips.
I helped Gary to coach a forward stroke clinic for SISKA. We had a classroom session in the morning and then a on water session in the afternoon. I picked up a few pointers and it was wierd using a euro paddle for a change!
Interesting mix of satellite and air photo resolution in this track image!

I went up to Elk lake to practice rolling the Tahe Greenland and also to help out at the SISKA gathering. Gary A did a on shore session on boat design and I was on the water helping with some draws, rescues and other strokes. As you can see from the track there were quite a few “wiggles”.

I went up to Elk Lake for the SISKA gathering and spent an hour or so rolling in my Greenland SOF. Practiced forward and reverse rolls, chest sculling, butterfly rolls, static braces, and norsaq rolls. I also practiced a wet exit in the SOF – it was easy enough to get out, but without adequate flotation it was very hard to get back in. Eventually the only way of getting back in and up was to do a reentry and roll and then a lot of pumping!
I did not put on any kms today but had a great morning and afternoon with two more clinics with Dubside. I definitely improved my rolling, learning a few new ones and refining some “old” ones. The morning was at the ORS dock and the afternoon was at Elk Lake
Yours truly doing a static brace. By the end of the day I was doing this without a norsaq or paddle!

Mike, Dan, Yasu, Ellen and I participated in a Greenland Paddling clinic led by Dubside. We learned about the history of modern greenland kayaking and then developed our strokes on the water. In the afternoon we went to Beaver lake to do a beginner rolling clinic. Fun was had by all!
While Monica was Rowing I went for a recce paddle from Eagle Beach to Beaver Lake to look at the best locations for the clinics this weekend. Water was warm and I did quite a few rolls and braces. I think beaver Lake is the best option. I was also there briefly for the SISKA “romp” but had to leave early so as to go to a play at school (which was great!).
